De’Shayne Montgomery, who was awarded the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Rookie of the Year at Mount St. Mary’s last season, has committed to continue his collegiate career with the Georgia Bulldogs, as head coach Mike White announced.
Montgomery, a 6-4, 190-pound guard from Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, averaged 12.8 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.1 assists, and a team-best 1.7 steals per game for the Mountaineers. He earned MAAC Rookie of the Week six times, including the last four weeks of the season. Montgomery had nine games with at least 20 points, with a season-high of 27 against Siena and 23 against Georgia on Dec. 20. In MAAC rankings, he was No. 11 in scoring, No. 6 in field goal percentage (.528), No. 6 in steals, and No. 15 in free throw percentage (.728).
